Founded in early 2015, Civic Hall is a community center focused on supporting public interest innovation using technology. With more than 1,000 individual members from over 150 organizations, Civic Hall is on the way to becoming a uniquely 21st-century civic institution. With more than 1,000 individual members from over 150 organizations, Civic Hall is on the way to becoming a uniquely 21st-century civic institution. Recently Civic Hall won a public bid process offered by the NYC Economic Development Corporation to develop a 250,000 square-foot center for technology at Union Square, including a new 90,000 square-foot community facility to be called Civic Hall @ Union Square. The launch of Civic Hall @ Union Square was announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio in February 2017.The new Civic Hall @ Union Square will include a collaborative community space, a conference and events center, a civic startup incubator and accelerator, and a 21st century learning center called Civic Hall Academy. Our goal is to enable people from all backgrounds to be full-fledged digital citizens, connecting them with opportunities and jobs in the technology sector and, in turn, connecting the technology sector with all.
