Sakhalin Energy
Sakhalin Energy is delivering a groundbreaking oil and gas project - the Sakhalin-2 project. This project involves the development of two offshore fields: Piltun-Astokhskoye (mostly oil) and Lunskoye (mostly gas) fields of the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin. Sakhalin Energy, an operator of the Sakhalin-2 project, was founded in 1994. Currently, the shareholders of Sakhalin Energy are Gazprom (50% plus 1 share), Shell (27.5%), Mitsui (12.5%) and Mitsubishi (10%). The Sakhalin-2 is the first Russian project in offshore oil and gas production. Under this project, before 2009, the company had built an extensive production infrastructure. Currently the Sakhalin-2 project facilities include the following: - three offshore oil and gas production platforms; - onshore processing facility (OPF); - offshore pipeline system, total length is 300 km; - trans-Sakhalin pipeline system runs from north to south of the island up to Prigorodnoye production complex over the distance of more than 800 km; - booster station 2 (BS2); - oil export terminal (OET); and - the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Russia. The Sakhalin-2 is one of the most complicated engineering projects existed in the world oil and gas industry.
